Alexander Lopez
Monarch Chophouse

Alexander Lopez was raised in a challenging neighborhood in Southeast Los Angeles, California. Despite the presence of gang activity around him, he was motivated from a young age to avoid that lifestyle and instead pursue his passion for cooking. As a young person, Alexander’s grandmother recognized his love for the culinary arts and taught him how to bake and cook.

In 2005, Alexander began cooking in various country clubs and steak houses across California, working under different chefs who served as sources of inspiration. Over the years, he had the privilege of cooking for prominent individuals such as the 43rd President of the United States George W. Bush, biker-builder Jesse James, and American baseball player Barry Bonds.

Alexander held the position of chef de cuisine in different kitchens in California before making his move to Colorado. There, he became assistant executive chef at the Monarch Casino Resort Spa in Black Hawk, which boasts five restaurants, 516 spectacular rooms, and a rooftop pool and spa. Recently, Alexander was promoted to the role of executive chef, overseeing a team of 137 members and managing the culinary offerings throughout the property, including the award-winning Monarch Chophouse.
