Fetien Gebre-Michael is a first-generation Ethiopian immigrant and one of 12 children; she has three older brothers and eight younger siblings. Being the eldest daughter, Fetien quickly learned her way around the kitchen, and what started out as a chore to feed her siblings, eventually turned into something that she enjoyed.
In 2008, while working for the city of Denver, Fetien started Konjo Catering, the first and only Ethiopian catering company in Colorado! Konjo comes from the Ethiopian language of Amharic, meaning “beautiful” — Beautiful Catering. Through community-based events and word of mouth, her business began to grow. In 2015, Fetien took on a business partner, left her city job, and launched The Ethiopian Food Truck, the first and only Ethiopian food truck in Colorado. Fetien and her team stayed true to their community and always made room on their schedule for community events.
In 2019, they expanded into Konjo Ethiopian Food at Edgewater Public Market, the first and only fast-casual Ethiopian restaurant in Colorado. Fast-casual Ethiopian food is unheard of, but quickly caught on.
Fetien’s brand mission is to provide healthy, fast, and delicious Ethiopian food in a clean, friendly, and convenient dining environment. Her team are extraordinary people delivering genuine hospitality driven by their own culture. Their goal is to make raving fans of our guests, partners, and communities by giving people the same loving, individual care that our mothers give us. Their food is cooked from the heart.
